Good question! Here are some examples of what it takes to run our different programs and services. Your contribution will be used in some of the following ways to help create a positive impact for the residents living in and around camps on Lesvos, Samos, Chios, and in the homes in Athens.
It takes €4800 to run the tech team on Lesvos for a month including the team of Community Volunteers, Team Leaders and material costs. This program both directly improves the well-being of volunteers as well as providing much needed technical work to the wider camp community
It takes €1300 to run our KalosTea community program on Chios for one month where adults and children from the community can come to relax, learn, and play.
It takes €2630 to run the tech team on Samos for a month including the team of Community Volunteers and material costs. The team improve ISO boxes, make furniture and create greening projects in the camp.
It takes €750 to keep our generators running for a month. These generators provide power to 3000 residents in Lesvos.
€300 covers monthly social activities for residents of Camp Vial, Chios. These activities enable residents to come out of the camp for a brief period of time.
€200 would provide the monthly supplies to the Tailors team on Lesvos to enable the team of female Community Volunteers to provide a tailoring service to the camp
It takes €1500 to make 25 tents ready for summer: install fans, fly catching tape and mosquito nets. This helps to positively affect the lives of 250 people on Lesvos.
In the vocational education centre, Ergon in Mytilini courses are running throughout the year for Community Volunteers and other residents of RIC Lesvos in subjects such as mechanics, ceramics, cooking, hospitality, tailors. On average a course of 6-8 weeks costs €2000
Sometimes it’s useful to show your supporters what a smaller donation they might make can pay for:
€80 – milk for a month at the Chai points
€30 – a food parcel during Ramadan
€20 – monthly supermarket voucher for a Community Volunteer
€12.50 – monthly phone credit for a Community Volunteer
€18 – a MOTG hoodie for a Community Volunteer
